Hidden Secret Of What Happens When You Create Habit 1

habitThis Post has been inspired by a quote I heard at a seminar I was attending “Motivation is what gets you going, habits are what keep you going” and this is by Jim Rohn.

Do you remember that New Year’s resolutions you set at the beginning of this year? Personally I like to make declarations. Yes, that’s me always trying to do something different.

Back to resolutions, you might be experiencing struggles along the way when it comes to keeping your resolution. That is even if you still remember the resolution you had set earlier this year.

Take a trip back in time with me… Its Jan 1st and you’re all motivated, you’re excited, it’s the first day of the year, I’m going to do it in 2013, I’m going to make it happen, I’m going to achieve this goal and you set this resolution because you want that change and of course with the excitement in the atmosphere of the New Year coming in, you are all motivated and pumped up and ready to go.

You do well for the first 3 weeks, but then after that you start losing steam. That comes about because you have not created the habit. I know that habits have gotten a bad rap in the past. Yes there are good habits and there are bad habits. But a lot of the time we spend focusing on bad habits when we should really be focused on creating good habits.

That’s the way that you can get massive change in your life, massive lasting change in your life because you have picked up a good habit. Yes, it’s funny because you normally say, why did I pick up that bad habit?

In one of my earlier blogs I spoke about the 30 day experiment. Yes the whole point of making a new year’s resolution is you plan on sticking to it fir a year. A year can seem so long when you are giving up something and it seems harder to do the healthier or better option when creating a good habit. Yes, starting a good habit can be tough however the benefits in the long run are way better than if you keep the bad habit.

So here is my theory, if the average person quits their resolution after 3 weeks…. Why not leverage that statistic. Focus and commit to 30 days every day which looks way easier than focusing on 365 days of the year. If you are watching less TV, reclaim an hour of you time daily for 30 days by watch less TV.

If you need to exercise more, get healthy by getting a pedometer and committing to a certain number of steps per day every day, even if you have to walk circles in your apartment to meet goals daily.

Don’t overwhelm yourself by having 20 30 resolutions start off with 1 or 2 at a time and build yourself up.

Remember, the easiest way to create a new habit is to do the new habit everyday for 30 days without missing a day.

Let me know what new good habit you would liek to create by leaving a comment.
